THE PRODUCTION PROCESS OF VICKINI’S BRASS DOOR HANDLES

Brass door handles are durable and resistant to corrosion, making them become an attractive option for wood doors and classical houses or villas. The production process of VICKINI’s brass door handles is described below.
  • Heating up the brass: brass is an alloy that contains a combination of copper and zinc. The material is usually received as a rod or billet of suitable diameter and is machine cut to the required length. Then, the billet must be heated to 800° C in a gas-fired furnace to soften the metal.
  • Forging: The billet is then placed in a specially designed set of steel dies that are shaped to conform to the profile of the product being made. A press applies high pressure to force the heated billet into the die cavity, where the billet now takes the shape of the door handles.
  • Cooling: After the door handles are ejected from the press, they are cooled, trimmed to size, tempered, and cleaned to remove heat scale produced during the process.
  • Surface preparation: the door handles go through a series of finishing steps. Separate coining, milling, drilling, and tapping, polishing processes produce a surface ready for the plating operation.
  • Plating: Plating is a surface treatment that improves the corrosion resistance and appearance of products. Electrolytic nickel plating occurs on brass by immersing the component in baths where an electric current passage is created which leads to the surface deposition of a layer of nickel. After plating, they would be tested for the proper coating thickness to ensure the appearance of the final products.
  • Assembling: The workers will assemble the door lock parts including the handle, escutcheon plate, thumb latch, nylon bushing, mounting plate… together and fix by stubs. Throughout the assembling process, the door handles are monitored and controlled to ensure the final products work.
  • Quality Control: The sample of finished door handle is inspected for surface finish – the hours of salt spray on metal surface testing, and function – the axis and rotational operation of the lever handle.
  • Packing: The finished products are packed in the plastic bag and the box, then they have been released for use.
