THREE NOTES FOR CHOOSING THE DOOR HINGES

Door hinges play an important role in the smooth operation of the door. Whether you’re installing a new door or simply trying to repair one in your home, it’s important to choose the right door hinge to ensure the aesthetic and function of the door. Three notes in this article will provide the information that you need to make the right selection:  1.    Door materials: The hinged doors are made of many different materials. The leaf hinges are installed on plastic doors, metal doors, natural wood doors, industrial wood door,etc while the floor hinges are installed on the glass door. Each door material will have its own weight and color. Based on door materials, you will choose the hinge that has the suitable color (chrome, yellow, black,...) for your door. 
2.    Door thickness: You should take note of the door thickness to help choose the perfect hinge. The door hinge is designed to have a leaf each installed on the door and the frame. You need to choose a leaf hinge with the width that does not exceed the door thickness (usually less than ..... from the edge of the door) to ensure its function. For glass floor hinges, they require a suitable glass thickness for each type. But, the normally glass thickness of 10-12mm fits the majority of the floor hinges nowadays.
3.    Door weight: Each door has different weights because they are made with different materials and dimensions. In general, the larger, heavier doors will require the hinges with a bigger size or a greater number of bearings, and screw holes. Heavier doors also require hinges made from sturdier materials like steel. To calculate the weight of the door, you multiply the specific weight of each door material by the volume of the door (length X width X thickness). Based on the weight, you also determine the number of hinges needed to install on the door. For glass doors, Each door uses one floor hinge only. According to load bearing specifications on the package, you can choose the right type for your glass door.
