WHAT IS STAINLESS STEEL?

Stainless steel is a corrosion-resistant alloy containing iron, at least 10.5% of chromium, nickel and other metals. The naturally occurring chromium-rich oxide film formed on the surface of the steel makes it have a high resistance to corrosion. Depending on the chemical composition of the steel, it may be harder, stronger, or easier to work with than other types of steel. There are 3 common types of stainless steel:
-    201 stainless steel : produced by an alloy of iron, but contains the lower nickel content (3.5 to 5.5%) and the higher levels of manganese (5.5 to 7.5%). As the cheapest type of stainless steel, type 201 seems the most appealing. Still, it will not hold up as long in highly corrosive environments. Compared with 304 stainless steel, it has specific gravity and lower durability, weak corrosion-resistant but has a higher hardness.
-    304 stainless steel: This type is defined by its higher nickel content (from 8 – 10,5%) than other types of stainless steel. Due to the rising cost of nickel, this makes stainless steel type 304 slightly more expensive than the other types. It also has the same bending, shaping, and flattening abilities as type 201 stainless steel but has more resistant to corrosion.  Stainless steel type 304 is the more common and general purpose type of stainless steel. In fact, this type of stainless steel is so common and widely used in civil and industrial industries, especially in humid, highly corrosive environments.
-    403 stainless steel: is a martensitic alloy, has lower silicon and chromium content hardenable by heat treatment. In comparison to the 201 and 304 stainless steel, the grade 403 is overall high on-resistance but weak in resistant to corrosion. It has better heat resistance up to 1300°F, smaller of the coefficient, better mechanical properties such as fracture toughness that are obtainable by appropriate heat treatments. It is not recommended for use in severely corrosive environments. 403 stainless steel can be used in gas furnaces, steam and gas turbine blades in the power generation industry.

In the production of funiture accessories, stainless steel is preferred because it creates products with high aesthetics, longevity ensuring to meet the needs of sustainable construction. As a result, stainless steel can be found in many products such as door locks, hinges, glass accessories such as floor hinges, glass clamps, sliding wheels, etc.
