Tempered glass is widely used in many building and houses and because of its load bearing capacity, weather resistance is better than normal glass. Depending on the using purpose, tempered glass will be cut into different shapes, dimension and drilled holes to install the glass fittings. However, the inaccuracy in drilling holes and cutting glass will break glass.

When drilling holes, you need to pay attention into the Vietnamese standard specification for heat-treated flat glass - TCVN 7455:2013 to prevent break the glass:

  •    Glass edge finishing, hole drilling must be done before the glass is tempered to become tempered glass.
  •    The distance from the edge of the hole to the edge of the glass must not be less than 2 times the thickness of the glass, so the glass around hole’s position will not be broken when tempered.
  •    The distance of 2 holes must not be less than 2 times of the thickness of the glass.
  •    Diameter of hole must be equal or longer than the thickness of the glass. For example, the smallest hole diameter should be 10mm if the glass, thickness is 10mm, to reduce the unsafe potential for users.
